Tenderfeet School
Tenderfeet School is a grassroots community institution dedicated to transforming the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children from Nairobi’s Kibera and Kabiria slums. It provides a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn, eat, and dream without fear. Through education, nutrition, and emotional support, the school gives hope and opportunity to those who need it most.
Our History
Founded in 2000 by Margaret “Mama Margaret” Nyabuto under the Tenderfeet Community Based Organization, the school began in Kibera’s informal settlements to serve children facing poverty, neglect, and hunger. What started in makeshift structures has since grown into a permanent center in Riruta–Kabiria, offering education, meals, and mentorship to more than 500 learners. Tenderfeet’s alumni continue to give back, creating a cycle of empowerment within the community.
